MIC says its MPs not interested in joining Pakatan

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC information chief Datuk M. Saravanan has denied a media report that MPs from the party would be joining Pakatan Rakyat.

“Switching camps has never crossed the minds of any of our MPs. We will not cross over to the Opposition. We are staying put and will stay put with the Barisan Nasional. “I have spoken to the other two MPs and they have denied that the thought had even crossed their minds,” he said.

Besides Saravanan, the Tapah MP who is the Deputy Federal Territories Minister, the MIC’s other two MPs are Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam (Segamat) and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department S.K. Devamany (Cameron Highlands).

Saravanan urged Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to stop changing deadlines in his bid to purportedly form the new Federal Government.

Labis MP Chua Tee Yong of the MCA has also quashed rumours of him defecting to Parti Keadilan Rakyat, saying those behind the rumours were aiming to create confusion and doubt among the people.

“I will not hesitate to take legal action or other appropriate action against anyone spreading such rumours,” he said, adding that he would remain a Barisan elected representative. - Bernama
